Raw Food Workshops with Niten

Posted on April 13th, 2012

We were very inspired by our latest raw food workshop with Niten which took place in Covent Garden.  A lovely bunch of people – and fruit and vegetables! – gathered and quickly became bonded by all that radiant plant energy.  We felt privileged to get to know people who ranged from relative newbies to already getting stuck into raw, and whose occupations varied from farming to healthcare…. We had some very useful feedback and lots of glowing recommendations – thanks guys!

The only drawback really was having to cart so much stuff up to London, rather than working from our home base here in Somerset, so the next one we are going to offer, coinciding with Niten’s next trip to the UK, we have decided to hold here at MIDSUMMER – 23-24 June.  This also coincides with our wedding anniversary!  We have booked the very pretty village hall at our nearby village of Broomfield, which has a lovely meadow at the back where if the weather is kind we can picnic on the results of our efforts!  The focus will be on summer foods including salads and dressings, herbs and edible flowers, berries, and delicious raw  icecreams.  Jenny made a maple pecan one the other day that we are now addicted to!  And of course, we will include some chocolate which seems to be always in season!

We can offer accommodation here for about 5 people in our Raw Food B&B, and other friends nearby who do B&B and are into raw or veggie cuisine can also offer very reasonably priced accommodation – and there is also the possibility of a wooden ‘wigwam’ at WigWam Holidays on the next door farm.  So for those coming from London or elsewhere, we will make the weekend into a real relaxation and detox time, starting on the Friday night.  For those living locally, you can join us for the workshop over the two days, and the Saturday evening meal.  We will arrange some lovely quiet times for meditation, or walks, and optional massages or colour light treatments, which aid detoxing or support other health or emotional goals.

We are getting down to planting some herbs and vegetables in our back garden – just need some more spare time!  Its so lovely here at the moment, primroses, starry white anemones and celandine line our path through the woods, and so many flowering thorn and prunus trees make it look like there’s been a snow fall… lets hope that thats the only snow now this Spring…
